There are whispers of a ghost in the slaughterhouse where sixteen-year-old Wen assists her father in his medical clinic—a ghost who grants wishes to those who need them most. When one of the Noor, men hired as cheap factory labor, humiliates Wen, she makes an impulsive wish of her own, and the Ghost grants it. Brutally.

Guilt-ridden, Wen befriends the Noor, including their outspoken leader, a young man named Melik. At the same time, she is lured by the mystery of the Ghost and learns he has been watching her … for a very long time.

As deadly accidents fuel tensions within the factory, Wen must confront her growing feelings for Melik, who is enraged at the sadistic factory bosses and the prejudice faced by his people at the hand of Wen’s, and her need to appease the Ghost, who is determined to protect her against any threat—real or imagined. She must decide whom she can trust, because as her heart is torn, the factory is exploding around her … and she might go down with it.

Heather's Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Authors I Own the Most Books From

Sorry we've gotten lazy about book blogging again. I told you guys at the end of June why I'd personally be taking a break. Video games! All my brain is thinking about is video games. I've been playing this game called 7 Days to Die nonstop. Check these out (My screencaps on Steam. Yes, I used the name Celaena. Did you think I wouldn't?). Plus, I've gotten back into Skyrim and I've been going crazy with mods. And I started a tumblr sideblog for Skyrim! Other than that, July was just normal and boring for me. I've put in some job applications as well, please send me some luck! How was your July? :)

Kaniesha Posts: 2014 ARC August

Surprisingly to me, I can actually participate in a book challenge without fear of being overwhelmed! I'm actually ridiculously behind in my ARC reading, but quite a handful of the ones I want to read aren't going to be published until the end of August and the middle of September. Therefore, August is the perfect time to get to them!

ARCS I'll more than likely be reading during this challenge:
Deliverance by C.J. Redwine (and the two previous books in the trilogy, as I haven't read the series yet)
The Perilous Sea by Sherry Thomas*
Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White*
Amity by Micol Ostow
Blackbird by Anna Carey
Salt & Storm by Kendall Kulper*
Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld*
Taken by David Massey*
Evidence of Things Not Seen by Lindsey Lane

* priorities

Wish me luck!

ARC August is an arc challenge hosted by Octavia at Read. Sleep. Repeat. Click here to sign up!
