EARTH. FIRE. AIR. WATER.

Nick Merrick is stretched to breaking point. He's trying to keep his grades sky-high or he won't get in to college. He's trying to keep his brother's business afloat or the Merricks will be out on the street. He's trying to keep the secret of where he's going in the evenings from his twin brother Gabriel - or he fears he'll lose his family. And he's trying to keep his mind off the hot, self-assured dancer who is his 'girlfriend's' partner.

And then Quinn takes to hanging around his sworn enemy, and an Elemental Guide is counting the hours until he can try again to kill the Merrick brothers. Storms are brewing. On all sides.

SECRETS IN THE WIND. DANGER IN THE AIR.

Review: Received a copy of Secret from Netgalley. Thank you!

If you haven't read this series, you really really should. At the same time that it's super cliche as a drama-oriented high school story with cute boys with supernatural powers, it's also very captivating and pretty amazing.

In Storm, we followed the youngest Merrick brother, Chris. In Spark, we got to follow the hot-headed Merrick brother, Gabriel. In Spirit, we got to follow the new guy in town, Hunter. In Secret, we get to follow the kind-hearted Merrick brother, Nick. Does he have a secret? Yes, yes he does. However, I'm not going to spoil it! Does it count as a spoiler? I think so because we don't find out about it until the third novella in the series. If you've caught up with the series until that novella, then you're going to be blown away with Secret.

Nick struggles throughout this entire book, fighting with himself, as Gabriel did in Spark. You'd think at this point these brothers would have learned to be open and trusting with each other, but not quite yet. Until the end of this one, that is.

I was so thrown and so excited throughout this book. It didn't let down at all. In fact, it was a lot better than Spark. Though I'm still a bit Storm/Chris biased.

The only problem I had with this one was Quinn. She messed up a lot but didn't really see her face any consequences in the end. Yes, she causes some disturbances, awkwardness and fights but all's well that ends well.

Rating: 5/5 stars
